FAQ This section is updated with FAQ from our customers
Is it binding? Do I need to pay when registering?
Absolutely not. Register your interest by the 31st of May. Registering is not binding for the moment, Unilab is just checking the interest for the solution. If we reach 50 companies interested, Unilab will contact each interested company and present a proposal. Please see the “ROADMAP” section for more information . UPDATE: WE REACHED THE TARGET!
How much will the cost be?
The final price of the “Microchannel Evaporator” module contribution is 2000 €. We reached the target, allowing customers to participate at the lowest possible price and kickstart the project!
What happens if I don’t join in time?
It will still be possible to join, however you will loose the special price reserved for all customers registering by the 31st of May.
What happens if Unilab does not reach 50 Customers?
UPDATE: WE REACHED THE TARGET! CONTRIBUTE WITH JUST 2000 €!
What are the benefits from participating? If you Register your interest and later decide to contribute, you will have the following advantages:
A QUICK LOOK AT THE SITUATION WITH MICROCHANNEL EVAPORATORS
Until now, a real software development for microchannel evaporators has not been addressed, mainly due to lack of demand from the market and constructional problems of this type of exchanger. However in the last 5 years the construction problems seem to have been solved, and the interest from the market is increasing. Practical applications at present are few and still on the experimental side.
The Microchannel evaporator has a main problem. Since the microchannel evaporator is a cooling coil, the main problem is that condensation forms, the condensation stops on the plates and acts as an insulator, thus needing to be removed.
As the microchannel plates are generally placed horizontally, it is an area where water stops. Therefore, the air velocity should be increased so that the air carries away the water, and the plate treatment should also be hydrophilic.
About 6 years ago in Korea, some experimental studies began, in which instead of putting the fin horizontally it was placed vertically.
Microchannel Evaporators are becoming a necessary technology, especially used in the automotive air conditioning market within conventional and electric vehicles.
Also in the field of data center conditioning many applications are being tested in which instead of traditional coils, Microchannels are used both on the condenser and evaporator side, however we are also in an experimental phase.
It must be said that the close control units that have an evaporating coil exploit no more than 20% of the surface of that coil: it is therefore clear that if we replace that evaporating coil with a MICROCHANNEL EVAPORATOR, the advantages are enormous because it is possible to exploit the microchannel only for the surface that is needed, with enormous savings.
From a computational point of view, Unilab has all the resources to deal with it, being Evaporation and Condensation very similar as application processes. The Unilab MICROCHANNEL software already allows to deal with Condensers. Therefore we have the knowledge to do it but a good investment is needed.
The development costs are quite high, and difficult to sustain for a single company: however, as made successfully with other software (e.g. Transcritical Co2 Gas Coolers) we decided to launch the request and gather a group of companies interested in the implementation, to help us with the development so that we can deliver the calculation by the end of 2021 at the latest, and distribute the cost so that everyone can sustain a little expense for starting the common development.
ROADMAP
Register your interest by the 31st of May. If we get the minimum number of 50 participants, you will have until June 11th to place an order, and until June 18th to complete the payment!
We will start the development from June 18th with an expected delivery of December 31st, 2021.
