The ideal company: what features should it have?
The ideal company is one which allows you to combine your professional and private lives: these are the findings of a recent study involving a group of 305 university students and workers who, regardless of gender (male or female), seem to agree on this point.
This cross-section of individuals declared that they give great importance to professional fulfillment. The majority (7 out of 10) workers and students considered that element important, while even higher scores for this were given by:
85% of female university students;
78% of male university students.
Furthermore, it is interesting to find that the survey showed that those who work care greatly not only about the balance between professional and private life, but also about their psychophysical wellbeing.
Those who study aim for a stable job, and consequent financial stability. Those who work however, report that the difficulties in building a career faced by women are greater than those faced by men.
According to another study, the so-called ‘Millennials’ make a significant contribution to the optimal organisation of work and they expect their bosses to be open to dialogue, prepared to pay a fair wage and to act as mentors.
In order to guarantee a good working environment, the leader must also demonstrate some fundamental characteristics, such as competences in duties dealt with, sincerity towards others and the ability to be seen as trustworthy in the eyes of clients, colleagues and competitors.
The same study showed that nowadays, a fundamental concession on the part of company bosses must be to allow staff to exploit smart-working, to give them greater flexibility, for example using Skype or FaceTime.
According to a survey however, 27% of participants said that the ideal company is one where personal growth is fast, while 24% said it is which inspires you so that your intellect is stimulated and your imagination is awoken.
23% admitted to choosing a company according to the salary offered, 17% considered development potential and 8% took into account the recognition granted to the most deserving staff.
Of course, the requirements of workers and future workers vary according to factors such as age, gender, ambitions, tastes and preferences, but all choices made by the individuals interviewed were, generally speaking, coherent with these findings.
In most cases, the opportunity to combine private and professional spheres is an essential requirement which, as well as enabling people to dedicate time to a greater range of activities each day, also allows people to achieve better performance at work.
This is a really key point, which should be understood and taken on board by all company owners who wish to lead teams who are well-motivated, competent, efficient and, above all, satisfied with the services offered.
The combination of these two spheres also applies to methods such as smart-working, which in fact cut distances and guarantee maximum productivity whatever the circumstances.
Of course the ideal company is difficult to find, but by defining specific objectives, working hard and demonstrating your own worth each day, the search can be greatly simplified.
These are the features most requested by workers looking for the job of their dreams: precise and reasonable qualities, which employers must take into consideration in order to make the business they run more attractive, pleasant and welcoming from all points of view.
