Unilab releases New DHW Heat Pumps Module at Chillventa 2024
PADUA, Italy – September 30, 2024 – Unilab, is excited to announce the launch of its innovative DHW Heat Pumps module during Chillventa 2024, the world’s premier exhibition for refrigeration technology. This module supports both DIRECT and INDIRECT DHW types, addressing the growing demand for high-efficiency domestic hot water solutions in the HVAC&R landscape.
The HVAC&R industry is undergoing a profound transformation, driven by the rapid adoption of renewable energy and stringent green policies and regulations. These shifts emphasize the need for high-performance systems that minimize energy consumption. As a result, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) are now under greater pressure to design products that not only comply with these evolving standards but also meet market demands for energy-efficient solutions.
In the context of renewable energy, manufacturers are increasingly involved in numerous heat pump projects. To succeed, they need cutting-edge software tools that enable precise design and simulation of various performance indexes. This is where Unilab steps in – empowering manufacturers with advanced simulation capabilities that can accelerate the product development process with enhanced security and speed.
To meet these challenges, Unilab has developed a software designed for DHW (Domestic Hot Water) heat pumps, offering DHW COP calculation according to the UNI EN 16147:2023 regulation. The new DHW module accommodates both Direct and Indirect DHW types.
- In the Direct DHW, sanitary cold water is stored in a tank and heated via a spiral tube immersed in the tank, which acts as a condenser in the refrigerant cycle. The refrigerant circulates inside the submerged spiral tube and condenses, heating the water aimed at sanitary use.
- In the Indirect DHW, a Plate Heat Exchanger acts as an intermediate condenser. In that case, the refrigerant flows into this PHE and condenses, heating a technical, non-sanitary water which in turn flows through the spiral tube submerged in the tank and heats the water aimed at domestic use.
Unilab’s DHW Heat Pumps module is a complete thermodynamic simulation design tool that supports the product design from its initial stages —from selecting the right compressors according to the capacity segments, and helps the products meet respective energy performance indexes, calculating the heating time, determinating the energy efficiency class and generating the energy label.
Unilab’s software make all these facets possible, due to its flexibility in modeling the entire range of units calibration according to test data, and flexibility in the generation of ouput printouts, catalogs and other technical data. Its calculation engine allows heat pumps designers and engineering offices all over the world to move sustainably in a very quick way, increasing their productivity and helping reduce products time-to-market!
