How the concept of “Eco-friendly” is changing the automotive industry
As far as the “green car” is concerned, the automotive industry is becoming more eco-friendly and is breaking away from those years when style and ostentation took precedence over considerations regarding the environment: the main reqirement of the modern consumer is that the vehicle they purchase should have low energy consumption levels and be able to satisfy ecological criteria as well as economic ones.
Over time, governments have forced manufacturers to introduce more innovation in the automotive sector, by increasing the number of checks and progressively lowering the permitted levels of emissions. All this has led not just to the stimulation of competition between companies in this sector, but also the global spread of the now well-known concept of the green car.
The automotive industry has managed to achieve good results:
- by focusing on hybrid solutions;
- increasing engine efficiency;
- and finding new sources of alternative energy.
The modern automotive industry’s main aim is to turn increasingly eco-friendly vehicles which are ever more compatible with the needs of our planet, too often abused by its inhabitants. Toyota, BMW and Porsche are just a few of the big name companies investing heavily in ecological technologies.
In the future we can only expect even stricter measures concerning toxic emissions and a greater trend among consumers towards purchasing ecological models. Certainly, however, the general concensus is that prices must fall considerably, because currently, the purchase of a hybrid vehicle involves very significant financial investment.
This is a brief but precise analysis of the situation regarding automotive innovation, following the introduction of the concept of the green car: a long and tortuous process which, we all hope, will, sooner or later, lead to the definitive resolution of those issues with which we are only too familiar, affecting the planet and its populations.
