This is the list of the most eco-friendly car manufacturers. As everyone knows, when it comes to the environment and eco-friendly solutions, car manufacturers are in constant competition to reach certain standards of efficiency and emissions, and some have managed to achieve much better results on this than others.
The statistics analysed in a report by the Union of Concerned Scientists, highlighted 8 multinational car manufacturers which are currently the most ecological. We will discuss this global trend below.
- Hyundai-Kia
If we take the average score for emissions produced by cars as 100, the well-known Korean manufacturer has a level of 86.4. This is an incredible result, and mainly due to their decision to concentrate on highly efficient sports models.
- Honda
This manufacturer obtained a score of 90.2, thanks above all to the excellent work of its experts, who have managed to reduce fuel consumption and develop high level hybrid solutions.
- Toyota
The Japanese multinational placed third in the table, achieving a score of 92.2. This was possible thanks to its focus on creating vehicles which are not only highly efficient but also very technologically advanced.
- Nissan and Volkswagen
Both of these companies achieved a score of 92.6; the former for thanks to its adoption of models with an aerodynamic design and low consumption technologies, and the latter for its focus on the development of diesel-powered vehicles.
- Ford
With an impressive score of 104.5, Ford achieved the best rating among American manufacturers. This record was achieved thanks to the improvements in its new models and the introduction of EcoBoost engines, which are lighter, smaller and equipped with the latest emission-reducing technologies.
- General Motors
This manufacturer also achieved a score of 109.9, and is currently researching solutions to further reduce fuel consumption, especially among its more compact models.
- Chrysler
Last but not least on the list with a score of 114.9, this American group has declared its aim of focusing on more aerodynamic vehicles fitted with reduced emissions technologies.
