What is AHRI Certification
What is AHRI certification and why is it useful? This certification provides a guarantee to purchasers that the performance of refrigeration units and air-conditioning systems corresponds to the descriptions provided by the manufacturers. In this way, consumers can be certain of the products they have chosen thereby avoiding unpleasant surprises.
At both local and state level, the view that AHRI is a worthwhile certification is growing all the time, because it ensures the most accurate and impartial testing available. The certification programs involve strict checks of the equipment in question, which, once the necessary criteria have been met, can obtain AHRI Certified brand status.
In 2009 AHRI presented a new unified brand for the identification of heating, ventilation, conditioning and refrigeration products considered certifiable following an external evaluation of their performance. Equipment, components and brands not in conformance with the new provisions were modified by 1st January 2012.
AHRI certification programs all conform to regulation ISO/IEC 17065, which establishes the international criteria for bodies that deal with product certification. It is thanks to this conformity, that the standards guaranteed by AHRI and its certification programs have been accepted worldwide.
In order to simplify trading of tested products around the world (without the need for further tests) AHRI has reached reciprocal recognition agreements with certification bodies such as the Indian Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers, the Korea Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Assessment Center and Mexico’s Asociaciòn de Normalizacion y Certificaciòn A.C.
In light of the above points, the reasons why AHRI is worthwhile both for consumers (who can finally be sure of the quality of the products they have chosen), and also manufacturers (for whom it represents an opportunity to offer highly efficient solutions and receive recognition for this at international level).
For those looking for an alternative to AHRI certification, the Eurovent certification may be the right solution, as it shares a similar level of recognition.
