Febrava 2025: a fair set to reveal the new frontiers of HVACR
Febrava 2025 (the International Trade Fair for Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, Air and Water Treatment and Refrigeration) is preparing to write a new chapter in the history of the HVACR industry. The 23rd edition of what is considered the sector’s biggest and most significant event in Latin America will be held from 9th to 12th September at São Paulo Expo, featuring a new, more comprehensive format with a wider range of content.
With its theme of ‘In the climate of innovation’, this edition will be the biggest ever, with over 600 exhibitors and more than 25,000 visitors expected to attend, representing a 25% increase over 2023. The stated objective is to reinforce the strategic role of HVACR in facing global challenges and focus on areas such as energy efficiency, decarbonisation, technical qualification and technological innovation.
A record edition
Febrava 2025 is already making its mark thanks to some astounding numbers. The competely redesigned layout will provide an extra 1000 square metres of exhibition space, while new, themed pavilions have been introduced, expanding the fair’s reach. Two new additions have been made:
- WTE – the Water Treatment Expo, devoted entirely to the treatment and qualification of industrial waters (an area which continues to gain importance as a part of sustainable production processes);
- Smart Heat Expo, a pavilion focusing on heating and thermal efficiency-related solutions, broadening the event’s range of exhibitors even further.
Febrava’s director Tatiana Rassini, emphasised how this edition is not only a trade fair, but also an authentic turning point for HVACR. She explained that this year’s event will be bigger in every way, with more space and new brands, as well as the presence of key players from the sector. There will also be more substantial content and excellent business opportunities. Furthermore, the event will showcase technological solutions capable of incentivising sustainability and energy efficiency across the production chain.
The drive for innovation will be the focus of Selo Inovaçao Febrava 2025, which will select products, services and technologies aimed at making a positive impact on the market. For the first time, the public will choose the most promising product for the future from among the winners. An ‘Innovation Route’ will guide visitors among the stands of the winning firms, encouraging a direct connection between supply and demand.
The Prêmio Nelson Baptista will play an equally significant role, as it returns for its second edition. This award recognises companies and professionals who have made a significant contribution to development in the sector. Three categories have been planned: Prodotto Destaque para o Visitante, Destaque na Captura de Leads e Personalidade do Setor, which will measure companies’ success in three areas: level of innovation perceived by the market, commercial efficiency and the how significant a contribution they have made to the professional community’s development.
The strategic role of Febrava 2025 for Brasil and Latin America
Febrava is not only a technology showcase, it is also a strategic connection hub that brings together both Brazilian and international industry. Thanks to the participation of exhibitors from a range of countries, the conference will act as a launchpad for new partnerships, commerical agreements and the exchange of know-how.
In a global context characterised by the energy transition and the need to reduce emissions, HVACR is assuming a key role. Although the refrigeration and air conditioning industry is responsible for a large proportion of the world’s energy consumption, it remains one of the sectors with the greatest potential for efficiency improvement and green innovation.
The choice of São Paulo as the event’s main location confirms the strategic importance of that city and of Brazil as Latin America’s economic and industrial hub, capable of attracting delegates and investors from across the region.
Looking to the future: Febrava Rio 2026
At the presentation of the 23rd edition, some important news was announced. From 2026, Febrava will also be held in Rio de Janeiro, as the event location alternates with São Paulo. The first Carioca edition will take place at Riocentro, from 6th to 8th October 2026, with greater focus on industry and the management of complex processes.
This decision is part of an expansion strategy which aims to bring the trade fair closer to the professional community of the Rio – Vitória – Minas corridor (one of the most dynamic areas in the entire country.
With its strong presence in the oil & gas, construction, hospitality and food & beverage sectors, Rio de Janeiro is fertile ground for the development of innovative technological solutions in the HVACR sector. It is also important to remember that Brazil has recorded some of the highest growth in domestic air-conditioning system sales (over 35%).
Past editions: a journey of growth
When considering Febrava 2025, it is important to bear in mind the journey that has led to the fair achieving its current level of prestige. The 2023 edition already reflected the direction the event was taking: over 25,000 professionals and an exhibition area of 50,000 square metres, with over 500 brands represented. The focus then was on energy efficiency, sustainability and digital connectivity, which remain key themes today.
The return of the event after a break of four years had created palpable enthusiasm among both exhibitors and visitors. Big brands like Midea Carrier, Tecumseh, Elgin, Danfoss, Fujitsu, Gree and many others presented innovative technological solutions, including new ecological refrigerants and connected, remotely controlled systems.
Professional training and diversity were also key themes at the event, with over 170 hours of technical content, as well as the organisation of the fourth National Conference of Women in the HVACR Industry.
Selo Inovação Febrava 2023 awarded 76 prizes for innovative solutions, while the first edition of the Prêmio Nelson Baptista recognised key figures in the sector, reinforcing the fair’s identity as a community rather than just a commercial event.
This legacy, combined with the success of the previous 21 editions, has cemented Febrava’s status as the biggest air conditioning – related event in Latin America, with a unique ability to anticipate global trends and adapt them to the regional context.
