Technology trends of 2022
Analysing the tech trends of 2022 may seem risky considering the uncertain times the world is facing. Nevertheless, although the pandemic has limited our daily activities for the last two years, it has also offered companies and ordinary citizens an opportunity to view technology from a new perspective.
In fact, we have reached the stage where digital technology has become a key part of everyone’s life, even those who up until two years ago considered themselves ‘digital holdouts’. While this phenomenon has undergone progressive, exponential growth, it has also led to the emergence of certain trends, which we will examine below.
What we can expect from tech trends in 2022
- The first point in this unusual forecast focuses on digital’s unstoppable expansion. In light of its sudden, massive increase during the Coronavirus epidemic, it is expected that at least 80% of consumers around the world will choose digital for most of their operations.
- Considering the predicted increase in demand for digital services, it is likely that the digital transformation of businesses will continue to see considerable growth. It will however be more centred on the human aspect, so as to create an even more solid link between customer experience and employee experience. This relationship will be the main source of companies’ competitive advantage.
- In the next few months, experts predict a boom in e-commerce platforms run directly by the companies selling the products. Evidence of this includes the fact that investment in business management software is expected to reach a billion dollars in 2022, with growth forecast to continue until 2024, when this figure will exceed 1.5 billion dollars.
- Also featuring among tech trends of 2022 will be the field of supply chain risk. According to recent research in fact, incidents involving third parties will be around 60% of the total. This is a worrying phenomenon which should encourage companies to take preventative action, by adopting security measures such as supply chain mapping, the use of real time risk intelligence and improved management of business continuity.
- Artificial intelligence, which will continue to meet with unfettered success throughout the current year, will develop further, turning its attention to the creative field in particular. AI will open the door to new, unexplored routes, which will enable the creation of a large number of patents, along the lines of the Dabus case.
- The 2022 forecasts for B2B marketers are, however, negative. The data suggests that only 10% of companies operating in that sector will be capable of offering purchasers the value they require. Â 75% of these, in fact, will not manage to reach their ROI.
- This year, companies are expected to pay increasing attention to social issues, thereby reinforcing their brands’ public image. In order to achieve success in this area, various strategies focusing on the promotion of ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) objectives will be implemented.
- Business owners wishing to stay competitive in 2022 must invest in making their services accessible. The key to success will lie in making their proposals as user friendly as possible for the public.
- The tech trends of 2022 suggest that the most problematic area is expected to be hybrid working. Although 60% of companies are likely to incorporate this in their production models, it is thought that they will continue to favour in person meetings or choose to create roles incompatible with remote working.
- Furthermore, the rapid rise of the cloud-native is set to continue, with at least 50% of companies expected to adopt it as a long-term option during the current year.
