Qualities which will make you appreciated at work
What are the qualities that will enable you to be appreciated at work? Here are the best behaviours to adopt in a professional setting: authentic character traits present in some people, which help attain better performance and superior results.
- Ability to solve problems
Among the qualities which lead to success at work we must definitely include the ability to solve problems without needing to disturb bosses or colleagues incessantly. If the consequences of a mistake will not cause irreparable damage, it is always better to find a solution autonomously.
- The ability to communicate and socialize
In order to be more appreciated in the office, it is essential to know how to communicate and socialize, not only with other members of the team, but also with clients and suppliers. Being available and open to dialogue allows the building of good relations and improves the office atmosphere.
- Good self-control
This quality is typical of people who are calm, relaxed and able to defuse even the most unfavourable situations. Those who get worked up or explode over nothing only convey anxiety and end up having a negative effect on staff productivity.
- Ability to be respectful
Being respectful to others and showing that you are on hand to help, sympathetic, sincere and co-operative, will certainly make you greatly appreciated at work. Avoid therefore showing envy, jealousy or any other behaviour which might make others feel awkward or uneasy.
- Punctuality
Punctuality in the professional setting demonstrates interest and enthusiasm for one’s job. Bosses and colleagues take a dim view of those who are always, or almost always, late, because they consider them disrespectful and rather lazy.
- Creative ability
Another quality which brings success at work is creativity. Even if you don’t have any (after all not everyone is lucky enough to be creative), you should at least try to show that you are pro-active, so as to make a personal contribution to the improvement of company performance.
- Professional appearance
Respecting an appropriate dress code is fundamental in the office, because it shows the effort that the individual has made to reflect the values of the company where they work. It is not necessary to always wear a jacket and tie or business suit, but you should at least try to adapt to the context.
- Ability to support the company
Those who work to their full potential every day, giving their all, transmit enthusiasm and greatly improve their chances of being appreciated at work. If an individual only considers their own interests and keeps staring at their watch as they count down the hours until home time, they are not supporting the company at all.
